Woods Hybrid Irons

Need help with hybrids, irons and woods?

I'm upgrading my golf bag to be more present with the game.
Besides the driver, putter, and wedges, this is what i'm having a problem with
I do not completely understand the similarities and comparisons between hybrids, woods and irons. In my bag, i have a 3 hybrid to replace both my 3 iron and my 3 wood since I heard that there is no use in having a 3 wood or a 3 iron. next i heard it was worth only having a 4 and 5 wood, and then replacing the 4 and 5 iron to a 4 and 5 hybrid. Does the 4 and 5 hybrid also replace the 4 and 5 wood tho? Need a lil help.

Also right now i have my taylormade burner rescue 3-hybrid with 19 loft which i'm happy with. are the taylormade burner rescues 4 and 5 hybrid also good? Thanks

A 3-h is not intended to replace a 3 wood (though it might well overlap with a 5w) it is intended to replace a 3-iron. A 3 wood is one of the handiest clubs to have in your bag. A 3-iron is also useful but of course some people have trouble with their long irons and find a hybid easier to use. Its a matter of preference.

The other hybrids you refer to (4-h and 5-h) are supposd to replace your 4 and 5 irons. Again, you dont *have* to do this, and if you hit those irons well then there is not much point swapping them out.

Your best bet would be to try some of these hybrids before you go switching irons out of your bag. If you get a chance, demo them at a range and compare flight and distance of the hybrids with the irons you want to replace, you can also see where you get the lower lofted hybrids overlapping with your woods and make your selection accoridngly so you dont have big gaps between clubs.
