I have several white tubes growing on my Tomato Plant Branches, Any ideas what this is?
This is my 1st year growing tomatoes. I planted them back in March and let them grow wild until now (June). While pruning I noticed on the lower branches some white tube like growth, growing on the top of a few branches. Plant and fruit look healthy (Still Green) but trying to figure this out. This thorn like growth is hard (Not Sharp) and grows in bunches. It’s about 1/8" tall and the size of a pencil led. Should I be concerned?

Type: Big Early & Roma.
Planting Info: Planted about on a raised row, about 2-1/2' apart. No Cages, just nylon rope and several stakes.
Watering: Designed a sprinkler system to water for about 10 minutes every other day.
Temp: I live in Texas (North Houston) ... ITS HOT AND HUMID!!!
Pesticide: Seven Dust (5) - 3 times since April.
No. Tomatoes will develop roots from any stem that touches the ground and these are root nodules -- no need for concern.
And lay off the sevin... Unless you have a serious visible insect pest that is in danger of killing off your plants, you should not use powerful insecticides round plants you are planning to eat. Sevin should be a last resort, and not used as a preventative.
