Maxfli Revolution Black
Golf club choice?
I am 15 years of age and play high school golf. My rounds range from mid-80's to around 100. I'm a decent ball striker, if my swing is well grooved on that day. But I'm still tinkering with my swing so much that I have a hard time finding what truly works. I've been using "smaller" cavity-backs (Maxfli Revolution Black Dots). They have brought me a lot of good shots and I've always loved the look of a smaller clubhead and minimal offset. My question is, now that I'm ready to buy new irons, could I look towards a blade if I work hard and long with them and use the feedback to fix my swing? Or is this too risky, and should I stick to a smaller cavity back?
You could consider a blended set of irons. These offer cavity backs (or even hybrids) for the long irons and progessively move towards blades in your scoring (short) irons. KZG makes a fabulous set that are all custom built. Nike made the pro combo's a few years ago. Your best bet is to find a good clubfitter and have them mix/match a set to suit your game. Not only will they be fit to you (an absolute must) but they'll be suited to your game.
