What to do during a gap year before a psychology degree?

I've just started my second year of A levels and want to take a gap year before going onto university. I'm just about to write my personal statement asking for deferred entry, but I don't know what I can do during my gap year to make my application more likely to be accepted. Suggestions such as possible types of work experience & how to find them appreciated. Thanks!

Try getting an internship or an entry-level job in the field. Psychological institutions are often looking for people to do the daily grind work, and it's great exposure to one aspect of your future career. Ask the college if they have any openings posted with their placement office -- if you can land one of those, it helps make the college look good, too.
