Tour Wrap Full

I'm getting GH:World Tour for Christmas but I'd rather have Rockband 2?

I just walked into my family's "designated wrapping room" for this holiday season and couldn't help noticing the Guitar Hero: World Tour full band set staring back at me. I'm totally happy about that as I would love the game I'm sure, but I would rather have Rockband 2 because I think it looks a little better and also because one of my best friends is getting it and a gigantic part of band games like that are playing with friends. I wouldn't mind keeping the instruments because I actually think the GH ones are a little better, but do the drums cross over well? Also would it be stupid to trade in the 60$ game for a measly 35-40$? I've already mentioned to my parents in the past week I'd rather have R2 but it's obviously too late, would it be worth it to see if I could have them return it and pick up R2 instead?

The drums do crossover. MY friend plays GHWT with all rockband gear so I am pretty sure it works. As to trade-in the game, don't do it. If the game is not opened yet, the store will gladly do an exchange. If it is opened, you can always say it is defective and you want a refund. They will probably give you store credit, but it doesn't matter if you're gonna grab rockband anyway.
